WINTER is on the way and energy bills are set to rise in the coming months.

Shoppers have been raving about a winter cost-saving essential that’s been reduced from £34.99 to £26.94 on Amazon.

Joyvio Electric Heated Vest, £26.94 (was £34.99)

With energy bills still high, many of us are looking for ways to save money to avoid cranking up the central heating.

The Money Saving Expert website, run by consumer guru Martin Lewis, suggests a variety of energy-saving ways to keep warm.

These include wearing heated clothing, like a heated vest, which is filled with wires, like an electric blanket.

When activated, these heat the vest in zones across your tummy, shoulders, neck, back and waist.

It’s perfect for keeping you warms outdoors during winter– think long hikes and dog walks.

But it can also help you stay warm indoors if you want to avoid switching on your central heating.

The vest has three temperature settings: 65°C, 55°C and 45°C, letting you adjust the heat to suit your needs.

The cotton padding adds to the warmth levels. It’s available in nine sizes – S to 6XL – and it’s washable by hand.

Charging is via a USB cable and you’ll need to purchase a power pack suitable for heated clothing if you don’t already have one.

One fan says her heated gilet keeps her really warm and it is “Much cheaper to charge the pack than run the heating.”

Joyvio Electric Heated Best, £26.94 (was £34.99)

On the Amazon website, shoppers are no less impressed.

“Fantastic! Worth every penny,” wrote one.

Another happy customer commented: “This is great for sitting in an unheated British house in the lovely freezing weather we’ve been having.

“It warms quickly and stays toasty – though you’ll need a couple of battery packs if you plan to leave it on for hours on end.”

And a third reviewer wrote: “My husband works in a garage and it’s always cold.

“This body warmer is perfect. [it] keeps him toasty and warm all day, well worth the money. Don’t forget to buy the battery.”

As to other ways to keep warm this winter, I’m a big fan of heated throws and use them regularly – I have one over my knees as I’m writing this.

Also, I love how a dehumidifier can help warm a room by removing moisture (and dry washing at the same time.)

After the initial outlay of buying the product, running costs are low, so an appliance like this 20L Pro Breeze dehumidifier is cheaper to run than your tumble dryer.

Plus, a blanket like this Dreamland luxury heated throw means you can delay switching on your central heating or turn down the thermostat.
