TEMPERATURES have dropped, and if you feel it’s too early to switch on the heating, a good heated blanket will take away the chill.
Amazon shoppers are rushing to buy the Monhouse Heated Throw, which has been reduced from £59.99 to £39.99.

That’s for the double size – but it also comes in king size if you want even more comfiness to snuggle under.
With nine settings for heat and a timer that gives you up to nine hours before automatically switching off, you can mix and match your warmth quota.
Keep it low if you’re one of those hardy souls who doesn’t really feel the cold or whack it up high, if like me, you’re an icicle as soon as the sun disappears.
I use my electric throw constantly throughout the colder weather. Working from home it’s a great way to keep warm without needing to take out a second mortgage to pay the energy bill.
A bonus benefit I hadn’t anticipated is how relaxing the heat is on my knees, which are starting to pay the price for years of running.
Any aches seem to melt away under the warmth, which is both soothing and reinvigorating.
The Monhouse heated throw is one affordable way to help reduce the cost of living this winter.
It costs around 3p per hour to run, with the new energy bills price cap which came into effect today (1 October 2024).
So you could have it running for your entire working day and still have spent just 24p!
Amazing value and, like air fryers and heated clothes airers, one of those modern life essentials you didn’t know you needed until you tried it.
It’s one of Amazon’s bestselling electric blankets, with almost 4,500 five-star ratings and 949 five-star reviews.
Amazon shoppers love it too. One reviewer wrote: “Over the winter this blanket has been an absolute godsend, and meant we can keep the heating down to a minimum overnight, saving us a small fortune in gas, it doesn’t use loads of electricity, so it’s a real cost saver.”
Another said: “I absolutely love this throw, can’t believe I didn’t purchase one sooner!
“It’s so comfy I can snuggle into it in the evenings and it’s big enough so I can put it on myself while I work from home.
“It literally costs pence to run and I’ve had it on for the max nine hours before.”
The grey shade suits many colour schemes but the throw is available in other colours if you prefer, including navy, cream and black.
From a practical viewpoint, it’s also machine-washable (after you’ve removed the electric cable).

What energy bill help is available?
There's a number of different ways to get help paying your energy bills if you're struggling to get by.
If you fall into debt, you can always approach your supplier to see if they can put you on a repayment plan before putting you on a prepayment meter.
This involves paying off what you owe in instalments over a set period.
If your supplier offers you a repayment plan you don’t think you can afford, speak to them again to see if you can negotiate a better deal.
Several energy firms have grant schemes available to customers struggling to cover their bills.
But eligibility criteria vary depending on the supplier and the amount you can get depends on your financial circumstances.
For example, British Gas or Scottish Gas customers struggling to pay their energy bills can get grants worth up to £2,000.
British Gas also offers help via its British Gas Energy Trust and Individuals Family Fund.
You don’t need to be a British Gas customer to apply for the second fund.
EDF, E.ON, Octopus Energy and Scottish Power all offer grants to struggling customers too.
Thousands of vulnerable households are missing out on extra help and protections by not signing up to the Priority Services Register (PSR).
The service helps support vulnerable households, such as those who are elderly or ill, and some of the perks include being given advance warning of blackouts, free gas safety checks and extra support if you’re struggling.
Get in touch with your energy firm to see if you can apply.
